The Building Bright Futures Fund is here to provide support to individuals pursuing hands-on vocational training and education by removing financial barriers; helping them gain the skills they need for meaningful careers and bright futures.

Let's take an inspiring step towards securing bright futures for young people across our region. Through the Southland Foundation, the Building Bright Futures fund has been established - an endowment fund dedicated to supporting young Southlanders on both vocational and university pathways.

Championing Opportunity in All Forms of Education

Grounded by a deep belief in fairness, opportunity, and the lifechanging power of education this fund has been created to make a lasting impact. Whether a young person is headed to a university lecture hall or into a hands-on apprenticeship, the fund is here to help take that next step. The fund recognises that tertiary education is not a one-size-fits-all, some learners thrive in academic settings, while others are drawn to trades and essential services.

Removing Financial Barriers

The main aim of this fund is to remove financial obstacles that often prevent young Southlanders from pursuing their chosen career and life path, this may be by providing support for tools, course fees, tuition, and other educational expenses. While this support is financial, it is also about dignity, equality and the belief that every young person deserves the chance to grow, learn and succeed on their own terms.

A Lasting Legacy

As an endowment this fund with continue to grow year after year through Southland Foundation.

Scholarships awarded through the fund will stand as a testament to the founding values, quiet care and an enduring commitment to Southland's future.
